Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Do I need to water my lawn in the summer when it gets really dry?
During periods of dry weather, we recommended watering your lawn at least once per week. This will ensure that the crown of the plant will not die while the lawn is in dormancy.

  2. Do I need to be home when an application is applied to my lawn?
No. After each application, our technician will leave an invoice/receipt detailing the services rendered, time of application and a return envelope for payment. We also place a flag on your lawn to indicate caution and provide any special instructions or restrictions that may apply.

  3.  Do I have to pay at the time of the application?
You can either pay at the time of your application or pay later. We offer online bill pay, credit card payment over the phone to our office or you can always mail your payment to one of service locations. For your convenience we will provide you with an invoice/receipt and envelope after each treatment.

  4. What credit cards do you accept?
We accept Mastercard, Visa, American Express and Discover.

  5. How long will it take a weed control application to get rid of my weeds?
It normally takes 7-10 days after an application for the weeds to wilt away.

  6. How soon can I be on my lawn after an application to mow or water it or to allow pets and children on it?
Each application has different restrictions. After each application, please check your invoice/receipt to see what restrictions your technician has identified.

  7. What is the most important thing I can do to my lawn to get the most benefit from your service?
Maintain proper mowing height of the grass. As the weather gets warmer, the mowing height should increase up to 4 inches. Mowing your lawn lower than recommended height can promote crabgrass, unwanted weeds, and drought stress.

  8. What is a good height for my lawn and how do I measure it?
Mowing height should be between 3 and 4 inches at all times. As the weather gets warmer, we recommend increasing the mowing height to 4 inches. The longer grass will help shade the ground and keep crab grass and unwanted weeds from germinating.

  9. How do I measure the height of my grass?
With the mower deck down in the cutting position and the engine not running, measure the distance from the ground to the bottom of the cutting blade. Subtract a half inch to get the distance from the ground to the crown of the grass plant. You should be at 3 ½ inches. If not, we recommend raising or lowering your mower deck.

  10. What is a lime treatment?
Lime is a neutralizer that decreases the pH level in the soil.

  11. Does my lawn need lime?
The pH level in most lawns in Michigan don’t require a lime neutralizer to be applied to the soil. The only way to really know if your lawn needs lime is to perform a soil test to check the pH levels in the soil. Oak tree leaves and pine needles that sit on the lawn for long periods of time can generate excess acidity into the soil and cause high pH levels. This can be treated with a lime application.

  12. Will a lime application take care of my moss problem?
Not necessarily. In some cases where a soil sample shows a high pH level a lime application will be effective. But moss can also be an indicator of poor soil conditions (e.g. too much shade, compacted soil). In these cases the lime application will not be effective.
